Alan Hinkes OBE (born 26 April 1954) is an English mountaineer from Northallerton in North Yorkshire. Hinkes is the first British mountaineer to have claimed all 14 mountains with elevations greater than 8,000 metres, the so-called eight-thousanders; however, this claim is disputed.〔("Mounteverest.net" )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】 publisher = AdventureStats.com )〕 He was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the University of Sunderland in 1999, and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of York in 2007. In 2011, Hinkes teamed up with UK tours operator Best of Britain Holidays to lead the (3 Peaks Challenge UK Tour ).
